okra: September 2006

About a month ago we took a trip to Chicago (it's hard to believe that it's been that long since I've posted!). The trip was a bit stressful, but I had fun. It was mostly intended to be a shopping trip, but also as a mini-vacation to give me a chance to decompress after a difficult few months at work. Perhaps this sounds overly consumeristic, but the highlight was definitely Ikea. Because we live so far from Ikea, it's a treat to go there. We loaded just about as many bookshelves in our car as we could fit -- we had to tie it shut! Our "family room" is much more livable now. Our single bookcase was bursting at the seams with books. Now there's plenty of room for expanding our library. We also added a coffee table and some various lamps and side tables. The room is much more suited to its intended purpose now.

I also picked up the small tea light holder at Z Gallerie. I thought it was interesting, and the price was right.
