I began painting and drawing a lot more this week, which was a good stress reliever. I had been planning to do a series on octopi... I need some things to hang on my studio wall, so most of these will probably go up there.
Here's what I've gotten started with:
These two are chalk drawings. I haven't found an appropriate frame for either of these yet, they are an odd size, as I used handmade paper. The texture of the handmade paper is great for chalk. The orange octopus was inspired by octopi I've seen at aquariums, their tentacles sprawled out across the thick glass. I always wonder if they wish they were free, and they glass seems like the most likely means of escape to them. I suppose you could say this is an ode to octopi dreams of freedom.
I found a heavy wooden frame for $4 (!) and made these square watercolors to fit it. I'm planning to hang it next to my shelf on my orange wall in my studio. I also got this bright green clock this week.
