At last, here are some photos of my newly redesigned garden.
The grass in our front yard has sprouted already and looks nearly like regular grass again. It was previously a big swathing of straw. I can't believe that it grew so quickly, especially since the birds appeared to be having a feast on the seeds. There was a perpetual flock of birds out there eating and playing in the sprinkler.
When I look at this flower, I think "tilt-o-wheel!"
Here's a shot of my new variegated coreopsis.
I love this sedum variety. It rained most of the day today, and large droplets of water had collected on its leaves.
I used a few annuals to fill while the perennials establish themselves. This is a big clump of lantana. And below are some miniature zinnias.
After all of the digging and various other yard projects I've been working on, my feet were in bad shape. My favorite pair of gardening clogs don't keep dirt out very well. So, in one last celebratory act of vacation, I treated myself to a pedicure today. My feet feel great now! And I can go back to wearing sandals without feeling embarrassed; they were not looking good to say the least.
P.S. This is an idea of what my garden looked like before:
